Just Wait for the Cherry Blossoms...

I've, let's say, "expropriated" the following from a friend's Live Journal. Because, well, she puts it well. And it's true. Here you go:

So I need to talk about something quite serious for a moment. Yesterday it started. I didn't even know that March 16th was the official date, but it was. It is happening. They are standing on the left side of the escalator. They are looking around. They are walking at approximately a quarter of the speed you are. They're here: TOURISTS! They get on the metro with cameras around their neck and talk really loud in their southern accents about how they love their hotel and the Washington Monument was SO COOL! I am sorry, but no matter where I travel to I do not wear my camera around my neck. Maybe I am just a more conscientious tourist, but I say when in Rome...

If you've got no place to go

Although I try to go out of my way to help tourists - especially when they're confused on the metro - I must confess to getting a kick out of seeing people wearing T-shirts with the following phrase: "Why is it called tourist season if we can't shoot them?"

soon I will be a tourist in DC!! Hooray hooray! Last time we didn't have a video camera so maybe this time I will have Josh wear it around his neck the whole trip.

Last year I learned the importance of the following rule: never, ever, EVER drive near the Tidal Basin while the cherry blossoms are out.

Matt, should I be honored or scared that you copied and pasted my journal in here?

It is true though! I didn't know there was an exact date but all of the sudden they came out of no where! I'm going back to MN during the Cherry Blossom Festival, boo, but I will still mosey over to the mall to see them on my own time.
