Question:

Here's the scenario: You are one of the foremost experts in your field. You write a groundbreaking book. Unfortunately, your publisher is broke and your book tour can consist of only one television show. The choices are Oprah, Larry King, The Today Show, or The Daily Show. Which do you pick, and why?

The today show.More people watching the today show will have a clue what I am talkign about or even care what I wrote about. Basically, it is a better audience.

More of my target audience would probably be watching The Daily Show, but I would pick Oprah, simply because her viewers are enough to boost sales onto the best-seller list (and thus generate enough revenue for those other shows).

The Daily Show. Why? Because where else would a cartoonist really fit in? Let's face it, Jay Leno had Kevin Smith on to pimp a spider-man story smith wrote way back when and they hardly mentioned it. I think Jon would at least bring up my brilliance somehow.

Jeff - you wouldn't be the book of the month. That would be cheating. So factor in that this is just a regular appearance, not like the ones she propells to best-seller status.

As for me, I figure I'd go with The Daily Show, just because I'd rather meet John Stewart than any of these other people. Kind of a weak reason, but it's what I'd take.

I would rely on the sheer awesomeness of my book to sell it. So I would appear on "The Daily Show" just because it's far cooler than the rest.

Oprah! Oprah and Imus sell books. Doesn't matter if she made it part of her book club or not. If you go on Oprah, sales skyrocket. Plus, I'd like to talk to Oprah. She's the most successful of any of them and would be interesting to interview/be interviewed by.

Matt, your reason for picking TDS is exactly why I'd choose the same show. All four shows have huge, typically intelligent audiences, but there's only one Jon Stewart and I'll LOVE to meet the guy.

I'll = I'd

That's why I don't type comments a) after a long St. Patty's Day O' Drinking, and b) while watching TV and not the computer screen.
